India has been pegged as one of the worst countries to grow old in. With the second-highest elderly population in the world, the already limited resources for the impoverished have further plummeted during this time of a global pandemic. The elderly have been severely impacted, and Tripura Foundation aims to find simple solutions to support aging individuals in some of the poorest rural villages in India with our Hope Rations.
Pushpavalli, a 76-year-old widowed woman, is one such elder who lives alone in her hut and has no one to take care of her. Due to the advancement of age, she cannot go and work to make her living. She depends on the hope rations given by Tripura’s Hope for the Elderly program, which provides her with the most needed sustenance.
Pushpavalli’s body is suffering – her right leg has swollen and she is not able to carry on her household chores. She uses a cane for mobility, but with great difficulty and pain, she manages to walk around.
She says the hope rationing products means a lot to her and requests continued support all through her life and extended her gratitude to all.
Tripura Foundation is calling upon supporters to give further comfort to Pushpavalli and other elderly like her in her area. Sponsor a Hope Elder here.
