1. What is your mission?
For nearly 20 years, Tripura Foundation has been committed to abolishing extreme poverty. Our programs seek to eradicate hunger, educate children, and empower women and girls, ending the cycle of extreme poverty once and for all.
2. How can I learn more about Tripura Foundation?
Our website is the most comprehensive source of information about Tripura Foundation. There you can find a wealth of information on our programs and the countries in which we operate. You can also watch a variety of multimedia stories describing the work we do and view recent press coverage. If you’d like to receive updates on our work, stories from the field, information regarding events in your area, and other interesting information about Tripura Foundation, please sign up for our periodic email newsletter.
3. When and where did Tripura Foundation start?
Tripura Foundation was founded in 1989 and is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit, public benefit corporation. The founder of the organization, Dr. Baskaran Pillai, felt the need to create a service organization that would alleviate the suffering of people living in abject poverty; those who experience the most severe forms of limitation. Tripura Foundation focuses our programs primarily in India, in addition to operating smaller, targeted programs in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
4. Why should I support projects in India and other developing countries?
We certainly think that every individual should support their own country. However, we feel that it is equally important to help others in the developing world. In particular, many of our donors come from some of the richest countries in the world, and their money can go much further in the countries in which we work. This world really is a small place and providing a helping hand to those in need has no national borders. Because we work in very poor countries like India and Mexico, we are able to have a great deal of impact with a relatively small amount of money.
5. How do I stay updated on the work Tripura Foundation is doing?
A lot happens at Tripura Foundation. The best way to keep abreast of our progress is to sign up for our periodic email newsletter. We don’t spam or beg for money, nor do we sell your information to outside parties. We simply like to keep you up to date on everything that is going on and occasionally email invitations to Tripura Foundation events in your area.
Another way to stay updated is to visit our website frequently. We are continually adding new information, featured programs, “stories of hope”, and other content that we think will interest you. Our goal is for you to learn something new about us every time you visit.
6. Can I visit Tripura Foundation's projects?
Yes! One of the best ways to see the impact that Tripura Foundation is having on the lives of children in the developing world is to visit our projects. Upon request, we will host site visits for our donors, volunteers, and other people who are interested in our work. Our site visits are usually a few hours in length and can include a visit to one of our residential facilities, a school where Phonemic Intelligence is being used and/or a chance to meet one or more of our children. If you would like to schedule a site visit, please send a request through our contact page at least 2 weeks in advance of your visit date. We will follow up on your request as soon as possible.
