Women’s Tailoring Classes Continue Second Batch After Successful First Round

Tailoring classes are intended to create economic development for rural women and girls. During the first round of the training program in 2021, 20 beneficiaries learned and developed skills in sewing and tailoring work. Because rural women of Tamil Nadu are mostly dependent on their husbands or fathers for their needs, this program offers women the opportunity to become self-employed, which in turn brings them the respect of their husbands and others in their communities.

As they gain status, the self-confidence of the women rises and they become role models for their children. Our March 2021 highlights how Hope Children followed in the footsteps of women. Read it here: Rural Girls Obtain Sewing Skills at Women’s Training Program.

Over time participants of the tailoring program have become efficient in producing hand-sewn items and are being trained on how to grow their business. After successful completion of the tailoring program, certificates were issued to the participants. One of the beneficiaries of the program has even stated that she now has an improved quality of life and livelihood, which would brighten up her future.

The second batch with 25 women commenced on October 1, 2021.
